Butterscotch and the Bear
by:Kaya Frusha

There once lived a squirrel. Her name was Butterscotch. A bear was trying to chase her just to say, "Hello! How are you doing?" The bear was nice, too. She was very kind. I would love to have her. I loved her so much I could just kiss her. At noon, the bear got killed by a lion. Just then, a woman came along. "Hi!" said the squirrel. "Would you like a nut?" said the squirrel. The End

The story "Butterscotch and the Bear" was written by my 6 year old granddaughter Kaya Rain. She loves to write stories and she and her dad (my youngest son Paul) often write stories together. He'll do a line and then she will do the next and so on until they have a paragraph. However, this one she wrote on her own. The drawings are one she did when she was 4 and the other darker drawing her dad did when he was 4. I had to put them up side by side. They are both very precious to me and I am glad I hung on to both pictures. Kaya is expecting a baby brother in August and she is very excited about doing the "Big Sister" thing. I hope I'm around to see it when she's 15 and he's 7. lol....
