I Rocked You Tonight

I rocked you tonight and sang you lullabies,
I held you in my arms and listened for your cries.
I whispered, "Don't you worry you have nothing to fear."
"For my darling angel, Gramndma's always here."
I rocked you tonight and held you so tight
Looked into your eyes and saw tomorrows light.
I rocked you tonight, and felt so very glad;
That once like this so long ago,
I had rocked
Your Dad.

My Angel's Blessing

With wide eyed wonder
I stare at you,
How could you possibly be true.
For God to send me
your precious face
with hair of fire
That can't be replaced.

Your smile that brightens
Up the room
Your dancing eyes
like the stars and moon.
Your sturdy little body
full of grace
My little athlete
Always ready to race.

Your big brown eyes
so innocently sweet,
with just enough mischief
to make you complete.
The angels blessed me with your kiss,
your arms round me
I can't resist.

So when you're feeling lonely and blue
There's a kiss in the stars
from me to you.

Written March 18th
For Zach.

Kaya's Song

I hear it every single day
The birds bring it to me,
It is the song of joy and love
Ringing through the trees.

It comes to me at night
in a gentle flowing breeze
It sooths my heart and makes
me to believe.

That you were sent from God
on high to brighten up my life
To fill my world with songs and
games and take away the strife.

Who would have known that a
tiny heart could give up so much
love, whose hand when in my own
fits just like a glove.

Who thought that I at forty eight
would get a certain thrill
out of going into to town
To buy a "Happy Meal'

The radio now long turned off
and Blues CLues turned on,
I swear that I have even learned
That stupid mailbox song.

And late at night so clean and
sweet lying next to me, I can't
believe that God saw fit to
make you from part of me.

So listen carefully to the wind
as it soft makes it's wane,
For together we will be, grannie
and sweet Kaya Rain.
