Thoughts While Watching Mine And My Sister's Grandchildren Play..
It's strange to sit on the porch and watch our grandchildren play;
Happy, laughing, singing as I'm sure we did one day.
It's funny to know that my sister's grandchildren are playing with my own;
and how as long as they live you and I will go on.
I never thought when you were 10 and I a babe of 1
that someday watching kids play could be so darn much fun.
We've had our ups and downs in life, as most people do,
but watching the grandkids play makes me feel closer to you.
Little Lairen, Kaya Rain and Kay Alana too
all dressed in their kid clothes doing what we used to do.
It's funny how the time has passed and now we sit here watching
little people we love so much around your roses marching.
It's too much to take sometimes the love I know we feel,
to bring us running from the house on hearing one little squeal.
So let's sit back and watch the future as our past begins to fade,
and know that we will always live within these little maidens brave...
And someday when we have long been gone and our name is carved on Stone;
they will tell their grandchildren about the Summer days so long.
When they ran about the garden laughing, hair flying;
and we sat on the porch watching laughing and sometimes crying.
